The first holidays of the year are often synonymous with stays in the mountains.

To help future skiers prepare well before setting off, sports coach Anouk Garnier recommends in "Bienfait pour vous" three physical exercises to do to be on top of the snowy slopes.

You are on vacation in the mountains, and you want to avoid looking like the Jean-Claude Dusse of the gang?

Don't panic, Anouk Garnier, sports coach for the program

, is there to help future skiers.

At the microphone of Julia Vignali and Mélanie Gomez, the trainer relates three main areas of work to best prepare to hit the slopes.

Strengthen the lower body

The first thing to do physically is to strengthen your lower body "for two reasons: good control of your knees when turning to avoid injury, and having strong and solid thighs to push well in your legs", explains Anouk Garnier on Europe 1. For this, the athlete offers different exercises, and above all to do lunges - one foot in front, one foot behind and both legs bent - in a "static" way.

"We will stay at the bottom of the movement, and we block. It burns the thighs well", she explains.

The sports coach lists other "more advanced" ways to perform this physical exercise, in particular by simply placing a cushion under the feet to work on balance.

Also, adopting the chair position helps to strengthen the lower body.

Strengthen the lower back

To strengthen the lower back this time, "very busy because you are tilted all the time while skiing and for quite a long time", notes Anouk Garnier, who advises practicing the Superman exercise.

“We are flat on the ground, we raise our arms, our legs, and we stay in a static position for about a minute, depending on your level, and all of this three times”, she says in Bienfait pour

A ski version of the rower

Finally, the sports coach highlights a particular device, the skierg.

"It's a skier's version of the rower. We stand up, stretch out our arms to grab two wrists, and we have to try to pull down to mimic skiing", she explains to Julia Vignali and Mélanie Gomez .

This exercise strengthens all the muscles as well as cardio, and it burns calories, she adds.

In total, these three good training sessions to follow will allow you to work on your physique, to put you at ease in your next stick plantings.
