“When using the Russian language as the state language of the Russian Federation, it is not allowed to use words and expressions that do not comply with the norms of the modern Russian literary language (including obscene language), with the exception of foreign words that have no commonly used analogues in the Russian language and the list of which is contained in normative dictionaries,” the law says.

On February 16, the State Duma adopted a government bill on monitoring compliance with the norms of the Russian literary language by officials and citizens.
