Proceedings began in Ukraine due to a visit by an NBC journalist to Crimea

This was announced by the representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry Oleg Nikolenko.

“Visiting… Crimea from the territory of the Russian Federation is a violation of Ukrainian legislation.

Violators are subject to legal liability.

In particular, foreigners are also prohibited from entering Ukraine for such actions, ”RIA Novosti quotes him.

The competent authorities of Ukraine "establish the circumstances of the illegal visit of the NBC journalist to the territory of Crimea," he said.

Earlier, the journalist of the American television channel NBC Keir Simmons rode along the Crimean bridge restored after the terrorist attack, visited the peninsula and talked with local residents.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has repeatedly stressed that the issue of Crimea is closed for Russia, and the referendum on the peninsula was held in strict accordance with international law. 

Crimea became a Russian region after a referendum held there in March 2014: the majority of residents voted for reunification with Russia.
