The Court of Appeal considered it proven that the man put on and in the girl's "necklace" - despite that, he was acquitted because the court judged that in the prosecutor's evidence it was uncertain exactly what the girl meant by the word "necklace".

The 50-year-old man was convicted in the district court of child rape, but is now free after the Court of Appeal's verdict.

The decision has met with strong reactions, both online and among experts.

One of them is the former chief prosecutor Sven-Erik Alhem.

- This is a very formalistic approach, I think.

It is not just a question of the word "snippa", but it is a question of whether the description of the crime would still have covered a different crime that could come into question than the Court of Appeal's assessment.

I think it would be extremely valuable and almost necessary for the Attorney General to try to bring the case up to the Supreme Court, says Sven-Erik Alhem.

At the moment, the public prosecutor, who makes the decision, has not given any information about whether the case will be appealed to the High Court, but the chamber prosecutor in the case Eva-Lotta Svahn says in a press release that she is not satisfied with the verdict and will start a dialogue about appealing.
