• Politics Valencia will take to the streets to denounce the "mistreatment" of the Government of Sánchez

Even today in the Valencian town of

Xàtiva the defeat of the battle of

Almansa

in 1707

is remembered with a painting of

Felipe V

face down.

It was the year in which the victory of the Bourbon troops in the War of Succession ended the self-government of the Valencians, who lost their regional rights, laws and their own institutions.

More than three centuries later, that defeat continues to mark some of the Valencian demands, for the non-compliance of which the Government of Pedro Sánchez is now directly blamed, which nevertheless is at stake in the regional elections in May for the main autonomy in the hands of the Socialists.

"Since 1707, we Valencians have always been told 'no'", summarized this Sunday the president of the

Valencian Association of Farmers

, Cristóbal Aguado, in a concentration in Valencia called to denounce the "grievances" of the Government.

Promoted by the

Association of Valencian Jurists

, the protest takes place three months after the appointment with the polls, in an attempt to put the so-called Valencian agenda at the center of the debate, which includes from Valencian civil law, the improvement of regional financing or the requirement of the Tajo-Segura transfer.

In other words, issues for which a wall has been found in Moncloa, despite even the efforts of the president of the Generalitat, Ximo Puig, to defend them in the first person.

"The Government is discriminating against us in an absolute way", lamented the president of the Valencian Jurists,

José Ramón Chirivella

, in an act that has had the support of the autonomous employers' association

CEV

, unions and agrarian organizations such as

AVA

and

La Unió

, and in which representatives of

Compromís

,

Podemos

,

PP

and even

PSOE

have been seen .

The concentration has not had front-row officials from the Valencian Government, but the vice mayor of Valencia, the socialist Sandra Gómez

, or a historical figure of the Valencian PSOE such as

Vicent Soler

, the former head of the Treasury in the Government of Puig,

have attended.

that he had to leave office without having achieved

a change in the financing model from the

Ministry of Finance .

"We don't want to be more but we don't want to be less either", Gómez stated when asked by journalists, to claim the Mediterranean Corridor, the solution to Valencian underfinancing or the restitution of Valencian civil law.

In fact, this is one of the issues that Compromís has focused on, whose candidate for the Generalitat, Joan Baldoví, has asked for "fewer photos and more votes."

In this sense, he has demanded the unblocking of civil

law

with the support of the amendment that his group has presented in Congress, within the framework of the constitutional reform of article 49 to eliminate the term "diminished".

The pact between PSOE and PP not to open the constitutional melon, however, has left out Valencian civil law, which was regulated in its day by the

popular

Valencians and which was later overthrown by the

Constitutional Court

.

Puig himself has called for an "in-depth reform of the Constitution" to adapt it to the 21st century and recognize civil law as have six other communities.

"For 7 years we have had a very relevant loss of self-government" as a consequence of that ruling, as criticized by Chirivella, who has warned about "the display of disaffection on the part of the State."

"We do not understand how they want to leave the Valencians out again," he pointed out, to censure in this case the attitude of the two big parties.

"In less than 90 days we will have elections and it is a fundamental issue because it symbolizes the real defense of Valencian interests in practice."

In addition, Chirivella has been very critical of the "disloyalty" of the

Ministry for the Ecological Transition

with the Valencian Community and the approval of the cut in the Tajo-Segura transfer, while calling for a "loyal solution" for the financial situation of the Valencian Community, penalized by a financing system expired since 2014. "No progress has been made," Chirivella has sentenced.

"It is time for the politicians who are in Madrid and who are from Valencia to choose Valencia and break the voting discipline to defend our interests", exclaimed the representative of the farmers, who has issued a notice to sailors: "That they do not have Politicians are afraid that their party will penalize them, because otherwise the Valencians will penalize them by not voting for them".
