If the latest generation smartphones are increasingly present in the hands of the French, some prefer to go back to basics to be able to disconnect from digital.

A trend of vintage and basic phone uses that attracts manufacturers, like Nokia, which is already bringing out several of its older models.

The former back in the pocket of the French?

As society is increasingly connected to the Internet through screens, some are deciding to put their latest generation smartphone aside to be able to disconnect from digital.

Say goodbye to Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or even TikTok applications, to find the basic use of a phone.

A return to basics.

"Customers want to cut themselves off from the Internet"

In his second-hand shop, Guillaume Bertinet turns on a Nokia 302. "It's really a basic phone with very simple functions like messages and calls," he describes.

Far from the smartphones that occupy almost the entire window, these old laptops also find their audience.

"We always have about a dozen in stock. We are looking for them and we don't have enough because as soon as we have them, we sell them. Very often, users don't even bring them back because they think that it is no longer worth anything", specifies the manager.

And yet, some can be sold used for up to 80 euros according to Guillaume Bertinet.

"Customers want to cut themselves off a bit from everything internet and social media. They're just looking for a phone to receive calls," he says.

This is the case of Manon, 34, who took over a mobile phone without Internet during the confinements.

"I'm a lot less on it. When I chat with someone, I'm really in the discussion. On the other hand, I had to relearn how to write SMS. Then I invested in a GPS and lastly, it's more complicated to take pictures when there is no camera", explains the user.

A vintage side on which manufacturers rely.

Nokia has already resurrected its iconic 3310.
