China News Agency, Beijing, February 25th, title: Cross-strait exchanges trickle down and bring together a family, everything can prosper

Recently, Beijing ushered in the first grassroots visiting group from Taiwan after the new crown epidemic prevention and control entered a new stage. Dozens of district chiefs and grassroots people from Kaohsiung visited the Forbidden City, enjoyed Peking Opera, in-depth community exchanges, and jointly discussed construction. Cheers Laughter and fun.

It can be seen from recent trends that the trickle of people-to-people exchanges between the two sides of the strait is converging, and the restoration of normalized cross-strait exchanges is what the people hope for.

From Xia Liyan, vice-chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang, and Hong Xiuzhu, former chairman of the Chinese Kuomintang, to the mainland, to a Shanghai working group going to Taipei to participate in the "2023 Taiwan Lantern Festival Shanghai Exhibition Area" event, and to the increase in passenger traffic on cross-strait routes, the mainland adheres to the principle of "one family on both sides of the strait". "The concept of releasing goodwill, coupled with the fact that people of insight in Taiwan are walking towards each other, has injected warmth into cross-strait exchanges, and has also brought real and meaningful well-being to the people of Taiwan.

Over the years, "the two sides of the strait are one family" has been popular among the people. These five words have never been an empty slogan, but one of the main starting points for the mainland to handle and promote the development of cross-strait relations. Sincerely, it is devoted to benefiting Taiwan compatriots in all aspects.

In the five years since the promulgation of "Several Measures on Promoting Cross-Strait Economic and Cultural Exchanges and Cooperation" at the end of February 2018, the mainland has introduced a series of policies and measures that benefit Taiwan compatriots and implemented them one by one. The efforts never stopped.

It is becoming more and more convenient for Taiwan compatriots to study, work and live in the mainland, and the fields and scope of enjoying equal treatment are constantly expanding.

"One family on both sides of the strait" is the emotional cornerstone to promote the peaceful development of cross-strait relations, and it can also be regarded as a solution to the deadlock between the two sides.

The blood of compatriots on both sides of the strait is thicker than water, as long as we treat each other with sincerity, there is no knot that cannot be resolved; the more difficulties and resistance we encounter, the more we need to strengthen exchanges, enhance mutual trust, maintain positive interactions, and create conditions for peace.

Regrettably, the DPP authorities are still playing an opposing role in the trend of cross-strait exchanges.

Although he said that he hoped that the two sides of the strait would have "spring blossoms", and even drew a big cake to "attract millions of mainland tourists to Taiwan", he did nothing positive, and even imposed restrictions on cross-strait exchanges: the Taiwanese people Calls for the opening of direct flights between the two sides turned a deaf ear, rudely blocked the mainland delegation from going to Taiwan to mourn Master Xingyun, and pushed back and delayed the opening of mainland tourists to Taiwan...

What is even more dangerous is that the DPP authorities have not stopped the pace of "relying on the outside to seek independence", dancing with external interference forces, inciting confrontation, and pushing cross-strait relations to the opposite of peace and stability.

According to a recent poll on the island, 66.4% of the Taiwanese people interviewed believe that the overall economic situation of the island is not good, 49.8% expressed their dislike for the Democratic Progressive Party; 49.8% of the respondents expressed distrust of the leaders of the Taiwan authorities, 51.1% are dissatisfied with its governance performance; as many as 77% of the people believe that the maintenance of dialogue and consultation and various exchanges between the two sides of the strait will "benefits outweigh the harm" for Taiwan.

It can be seen that more and more Taiwan compatriots realize that "Taiwan independence" will only bring disaster.

The plight of people's livelihood on the island will not be solved by manipulating political tricks and dumping the blame on the mainland.

The large-scale exchanges and cooperation between the two sides of the strait can give full play to each other's strengths and complement each other's advantages, which has improved many people's livelihood issues on the island and stimulated stronger vitality in the social, economic, and cultural aspects of the two sides of the strait.

The peaceful and integrated development of the two sides of the strait is truly in line with the interests and well-being of compatriots on both sides of the strait. "Taiwan independence" splits are the biggest threat to cross-strait peace, and "resisting China to protect Taiwan" is even more of a false proposition.

"A family on both sides of the strait", family harmony and everything prospers.

As long as it is a family, we can sit down and talk about anything.

On the basis of the "1992 Consensus", cross-strait negotiations can resume, and exchanges and dialogue can be carried out between the mainland and Taiwan.

Compatriots on both sides of the strait need to travel more and communicate frequently, and the DPP authorities should also seriously think about what kind of path to take to achieve stability and long-term progress.
