- It also contributes to us not ordering too much food home, says Pernilla Danarö, environment and quality manager at Ica Kvantum in Gottsunda.

A year ago, the Gottsunda store joined a food app to reduce food waste.

And they are not alone.

In recent years, more and more grocery stores in Uppsala have started selling food via apps, which would otherwise have been thrown away, according to the two major food app companies Karma and Too Good To Go.

Cafés and restaurants also sell food via the apps, but it is mainly in the grocery trade that more people use the method.

"It is cheap"

One of the customers who uses an app to save food is Uppsala resident Pawel Trzecinski.

- The main reason is to save food, and it's cheap, he says.

In the clip, you can hear how the food app helped the store reach its goals.
