The incident occurred at the end of October last year.

At 04:00 at night, one of the woman's acquaintances called the police and reported the rape.

Later that day, the police arrested a man in his 20s.

According to the Uppsala district court's verdict, the man followed the woman in central Enköping, and then raped her outdoors next to a residential building.

During the trial, the man made certain admissions, but denied any wrongdoing.

However, the Uppsala district court judges that it is beyond reasonable doubt that he was guilty of rape.

Among the evidence are DNA findings found on the woman.

The man from Enköping is now sentenced to three years and two months in prison for rape.

He must also pay SEK 227,000 in damages to the woman.
