“In matters of the security of our country and citizens, talking with Russia in the language of ultimatums is unacceptable,” Volodin wrote on Telegram.

He recalled that on February 22, the State Duma will consider Vladimir Putin's initiative to suspend START III.

“By ceasing to comply with its obligations and rejecting our country's proposals on global security issues, the United States destroyed the architecture of international stability.

They plunged the world into a state of conflicts and challenges,” the speaker of the State Duma said.

On February 21, Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced that Russia was suspending its participation in the strategic offensive arms reduction treaty.

Moscow does not withdraw from the agreement, namely, it suspends its participation, the President noted.

The US National Security Council said that US representatives are ready to meet with colleagues from Russia to discuss the topic of START and strategic stability.
