The project "My midwife" provided extra support for women with fear of childbirth.

Women in labor had the opportunity to have the same midwife team throughout pregnancy, delivery and aftercare.

The project started in 2018 and is now a form of care within the choice of care.

But now 12 out of 16 midwives have resigned as they received changed working conditions when the project ended.

A conflict has arisen regarding the schedule, the midwives had to change from a local collective agreement to the same collective agreement that exists in the regular operations.

This means that the midwives need to spend more time in the hospital and no longer have the same standby time for those giving birth in "My Midwife".

The acting operations manager is also leaving his position

The management of the staff within "My midwife" is described from several quarters as a large part of the problem at the birth at Karolinska in Huddinge.

Also the acting operations manager Sussanne Albertsson is now leaving her position prematurely, as she cannot stand behind the decisions that have been made.

"I believe in the form of care, both from the perspective of the women and the midwives, with the right conditions and right now Karolinska has not created them," she writes to SVT Nyheter Stockholm.

SVT Stockholm has asked the hospital management at Karolinska for an interview.
