The post of sports adviser no longer existed at Olympique Lyonnais since the death of Gérard Houllier (December 2020), successor to Bernard Lacombe who retired.

Aged 52, Anderson played for Olympique Lyonnais between 1999 and 2003, contributing to their League Cup victory (2001) and the first two of seven French league titles (2002, 2003).

Sonny Anderson, who was also coach of the Lyon attackers (2007-2011), was recently a TV consultant on BeInsport but also a sports advisor for Lyon-La Duchère (N2), an OL partner club.

Anderson began his playing career in Brazil before appearing in Europe at Servette Geneva (1992-1993), then in Marseille (1993-1994), Monaco (1994-1997) and Barcelona (1997-1999).

Lyon had then recruited him for 120 million francs at the time (18 M EUR).

He then finished his career at Villarreal in Spain (2003-2004) then Al Rayyan (2004-2005) and Al Gharafa in Qatar (2005-2006).
