According to him, the neutral status of Moldova does not ensure the peace of the country.
"These opportunities are available to countries that want Moldova to be peaceful, free, democratic - these countries are in the West," RIA Novosti quotes Popescu.
The Deputy Prime Minister called such associations as the European Union and the North Atlantic Alliance a space of "peace and prosperity".
That is why, Popescu believes, Moldova should become part of the Western world.
Earlier, Moldovan President Maia Sandu, at a meeting with American leader Joe Biden, asked him to increase financial assistance to the republic.
