“In order to maintain a sufficient degree of predictability and stability in the nuclear missile sphere, Russia intends to adhere to a responsible approach and will continue to strictly comply with the quantitative restrictions on strategic offensive arms stipulated by it within the life cycle of the Treaty,” the message on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry says.

It is also reported that Moscow will continue to exchange notifications with Washington on launches of ICBMs and SLBMs on the basis of the relevant agreement between the USSR and the USA in 1988.

On February 21, Russian leader Vladimir Putin announced that Russia was suspending its participation in the Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty.

Moscow does not withdraw from the agreement, namely, it suspends its participation, the President noted.

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken said that Washington is still ready to talk with Moscow about arms control at any time.
