In connection with this year's performing arts biennale announcing which selected performances will be shown during the festival in Stockholm in May, the manager of Teater Västernorrland posted a post on social media.

He wants to raise the issue and create dialogue.

 - I wanted to put it in the context of how the whole of Cultural Sweden looks like today.

I think that there is a great invisibility of the rest of Cultural Sweden, outside of Stockholm.

Metropolitan perspective

For this year's performing arts biennial, 8 out of 14 selected productions are from Stockholm, something that Kristoffer Berglund thinks is also reflected in the media.

- I have looked at how SVT's and SR's cultural coverage and reviews look and they follow the same pattern, he says.

Increased cultural monitoring

Kristoffer Berglund believes that SVT and SR, with their broadcast license, should reflect and critically review events within culture throughout Sweden and have the opportunity to increase their cultural coverage to contribute to the whole of Sweden being seen.

He sees culture as an important factor in being an attractive region to live in.

- If we are to attract labor to our new industries, we must appear as a region where there is a cultural life.

Then it cannot be that everything that happens nationally, it is Stockholm and we who are out in the country, we are local.

It does not work.

In the clip, SVT follows Kristoffer Berglund into the concert theater to hear his proposals for making local cultural life visible.
