491 people were sentenced between January 2021 and August 2022 for minor drug crimes in Västmanland, in cases where drugs were the main crime. The average age for these is 28.9 years. SVT's mapping of nearly 18,000 people convicted of minor drug offenses shows that seven out of ten convicted of the crime were charged with possession or use of cannabis.
According to the Public Health Authority, the percentage of people between the ages of 16-29 who used cannabis in 2021 is the highest age group at 7.2 percent.
