The cranes have probably roosted at Hornborgasjön for thousands of years.

Around two o'clock on Sunday, the first crane appeared, which is a sure sign that spring is soon here.

- It will take a few more weeks, but on March 13, Naturum will open.

The really big groups that rest by the lake usually come in mid or late March.

Both in terms of cranes and tourists, says Sofie Stålhand and laughs.

The first crane of the year, however, was never caught in a picture by the enthusiasts who were there.

Nature experience and folk festival

In 2021 and 2022, the first crane arrived almost on exactly the same date as this year and it was this weekend that the site manager had guessed that it would be.

- Now is the third year that the first crane arrives on February 19 or 20.

So it was almost on the day what we guessed.

This crane probably belongs to one of the approximately 30 pairs that nest at Hornborgasjön.

- Tranvåren is a magical mixture of nature experience and folk festival, says Sofie Stålhand.
