A lot of red noses and funny hats were visible when the organizers of the Vansbro swimming on Saturday carried out the second edition of the Vansbro winter swimming.
The organizer had received 300 registrations from all over the country and the number of participants who started the icy swim was close to that figure according to Vansbrosimningen's head of track, Britta Granberg.
- This is a way for us to communicate with our participants in Vansbrosimningen throughout the year.
The idea came during the pandemic when we had a lot of time to think about how to develop our business, says Britta Granberg.
The competition was divided into six distances, 25 and 50 meter breaststroke and freestyle.
One of the distances was a team race of 4 by 25 meters.
Sometimes cold even in summer
The traditional Vansbro swim is 3000 meters and is carried out in the summer, and one of the challenges is usually the low temperature of the water even then.
- If you think it's cold in the summer, you should come here in the winter.
Because then you don't think it's as cold as summer, says Britta Granberg.
