Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said on Saturday evening that there is a need to return to nuclear negotiations with Iran, but with a holistic approach that includes Gulf participation, addressing drones and missile development.

He added, in a dialogue session on the sidelines of the Munich Security Conference, that Saudi Arabia has made it clear to Iran that the proliferation of armaments, whatever it is, is not beneficial to the region and must be stopped.

And the Saudi Foreign Minister indicated that the nuclear armament of a country that bears hostility to neighboring countries, will make everyone think of defending himself.

He stressed that the Kingdom had been warning for some time about Iranian drones, and now we see them in the Ukrainian-Russian war, and dialogue with Iran must be held on this issue.

It is noteworthy that Saudi Arabia and Iran previously held 5 negotiating rounds mediated by Iraq.

Earlier, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan said that the two sides might hold a sixth round.

Last December, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanaani said that Riyadh and Tehran agreed to continue talks between them, and they could hold a new round in Baghdad.

In a related context, the Saudi foreign minister said that his country is working with the United States on issues of security and stability in the region, but at the same time it takes into account Saudi Arabia's national interests in that relationship.

The Saudi minister confirmed that the position of the Gulf Cooperation Council is unified regarding the Russian-Ukrainian war, and it is with dialogue to resolve the crisis there.

With regard to the file of the Syrian crisis, Minister Faisal bin Farhan said that there is an Arab consensus that the current situation in Syria should not continue, adding that the situation of Syrian refugees abroad and the humanitarian aspect at home must be addressed.
