In the semi-finals, the 12th player in the world defeated the Peruvian Juan Pablo Varillas (101st in the world) in two sets 7-6 (7/5), 6-4 in just under two hours.

Norrie will face in the final the winner of the 100% Spanish match between Alcaraz, who is starting his season in Buenos Aires after being kept away from the courts by an injury, and Bernabé Zapata (74th).

"It will be tough whoever my opponent is," commented Norrie, quoted by the ATP website.

"I lost a tight final in Auckland (in January against the French Richard Gasquet, editor's note). I hope that the good feelings will be back tomorrow (Sunday) in the final", he added.

In four confrontations, Norrie lost three times against Alcaraz but won their last match, in the quarter-finals of the Masters 1000 in Cincinnati last August.

He has never played against Zapata, who will try against Alcaraz to qualify for the first final of his career.
