No land in a foreign country is worth a potential nuclear weapons exchange with the world's largest nuclear power or an escalation that could draw the US and NATO into a direct military confrontation with Russia.

Depetris expressed confidence that the calls of US President Joe Biden and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg to provide assistance to Ukraine as much as needed are far from reality.

The observer noted that Ukraine will not receive the necessary assistance if this ultimately causes a conflict between Russia and the West.

He also recalled that Crimea has been a Russian region since 2014, and this "does not affect US security interests."

Earlier, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said that Nuland's words about supporting Ukrainian strikes in Crimea are evidence of Washington's direct involvement in the conflict over Ukraine.
