US President Joe Biden confirmed, Thursday, that he will not apologize for shooting down a suspected Chinese spy balloon in American airspace, indicating that he intends to speak to Chinese President Xi Jinping, while stressing that he does not want a "cold war" with Beijing.

"We do not want a new cold war," the US president said, in remarks at the White House. "We will continue to talk to China."

He added that he intends to speak with the Chinese president to discuss the issue.

Biden also saw that the decision to shoot down the balloon sends a "clear message" that "any violation of our sovereignty is unacceptable," stressing that he will order the shooting down of any flying object that poses a threat to the security of Americans.

On the other hand, the US President acknowledged that "there is no evidence so far" that the three flying objects that were shot down recently, following the downing of the balloon, are linked to a Chinese program of espionage by balloons or that they are monitoring devices belonging to another country.

He explained that these three bodies are likely linked to "private companies, entertainment activities, or scientific research institutions."

He also said that there is no evidence of a sudden increase in the number of UFOs in US airspace.

In recent days, the United States shot down 3 unidentified flying objects over its territory and Canada, after it shot down a Chinese balloon on February 4.

China had refused an American request for a telephone conversation between US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin and his Chinese counterpart, Wei Feng, on the day the balloon was shot down. .
