Before the pandemic, Nyköping municipality's inner-city schools traditionally celebrated the end of school together on the Vallarna, the open grassy area by the Nyköpingshus castle ruins.

But at the end of January, the news came that the school managements had jointly decided that the graduations should now primarily be held at the respective schools.

According to the municipality, one of the main reasons is that many children during the pandemic enjoyed themselves with a conclusion on a smaller scale.

Not forbidden

There is, however, no prohibition against completing school graduation at the traditional location.

- It is up to each principal how the graduation is to be carried out, and then it may be that the schools that are close to Vallarna choose to have their graduation there, says school principal Peter Ekedahl.
