China News Service, February 16 (Xinhua) According to Yonhap News Agency, South Korean prosecutors asked the court on the 16th to arrest the leader of the largest opposition party, the Common Democratic Party, Lee Jae-myung, accusing him of corruption, dereliction of duty, and bribery.

This is the first time in the history of the prosecution that the leader of the largest opposition party has been arrested.

  According to reports, the Anti-Corruption Investigation Department 1 and Department 3 of the Seoul Central District Prosecutor's Office submitted a request for arrest on the same day.

Prosecutors accused Li Zaiming of dereliction of duty and violation of the anti-corruption law for the condolences and Dazhuangdong new city construction projects.

The prosecution accused Lee Jae-myung of accepting bribes in the sponsorship case of Seongnam Football Club (Seongnam FC).

  According to the prosecution, Lee Jae-myung is suspected of disclosing the internal affairs of the Seongnam City Government and the Seongnam Urban Development Corporation to private developers as the top decision-maker of the Gyeonggi-do Weili New City and Daejang-dong New City projects during his tenure as the mayor of Seongnam (2010-2018). Confidentiality, so that the developer reaped huge profits, and was accused of violating anti-corruption laws.

  Li Zaiming was also accused of dereliction of duty for his decision to delete the terms of the city government’s recovery of excess project income from the relevant official documents of the real estate development project contract, so that the city government could not obtain additional income and caused huge losses to Seongnam City.

  Lee Jae-myung also served as the chairman of Seongnam FC during his tenure as mayor of Seongnam.

He is suspected of attracting 13.35 billion won (approximately RMB 71.24 million) in sponsorship from the portal website NAVER, Doosan Construction, CHA Hospital and other companies during his tenure (October 2014 to September 2016), and using his position to provide sponsors Building approval, land use change and other convenience.

  Previously, Li Zaiming came to the case as a criminal suspect on January 28. After being arraigned by the prosecution on the condolence Xincheng and Dazhuangdong real estate fraud cases, he felt that the prosecution was not handling the case, but "engaging in politics."

Prosecutors are not conducting investigations to find out the truth, but fabricating facts for the purpose of prosecution.
