“Regardless of what the Ukrainians decide about Crimea... Ukraine will not be safe if Crimea is not at least demilitarized,” Nuland quoted RIA Novosti as saying during a speech at the Carnegie think tank in Washington.

She noted that this measure should be part of sustainable deterrence.

According to her, Ukraine needs to return significant territories in order to become a viable state before it comes to Crimea.

Earlier, the chairman of the movement "We are together with Russia" Vladimir Rogov said that the militants of the Armed Forces of Ukraine intend to make an attempt to cut the land corridor to the Crimea.
