“These are legitimate targets, Ukraine is hitting them, and we support it,” RIA Novosti quoted Nuland as saying at a virtual event at the Carnegie Center.
She added that there are massive military installations in Crimea that Russia has turned into important "logistics points".
Earlier, Nuland announced the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions on February 24, together with partners in the G7.
