Anna Thore (S), chairman of the water and environment committee in Kalmar municipality, pursued the issue in her previous role in the management of Kretslopp Sydost, the municipal association responsible for managing the waste from eight member municipalities in Småland.

- This was one of my most important questions when I was part of Kretslopp Sydost.

We have to get rid of all plastic in nature, at every meeting I have drawn attention and pushed this issue and in the end I have succeeded in it.

Breaks down completely in nature

Now a new type of bag will be used, which after a short time in the field disappears completely because it is completely bio-based and just turns into compost.

The bag also works in the municipality's sorting system and should not leak either.

Anna Thore is very happy today that the problem has been solved.

- It's a nice feeling because it's not fun when you go out into the fields and see that it's plastic that we've contributed with, it's not okay, says Anna Thore.

The new bags will begin to be distributed at the end of March.
