A broadcaster at the British radio station "Capital FM" sparked controversy and widespread criticism after his sarcastic remarks during a radio broadcast, where he advised listeners to take advantage of the earthquake crisis and the low prices of flights to Turkey to achieve their various interests there.

British activist Epic Joksi Galib published a video clip on her Instagram account documenting the moment when broadcaster Ant Payne made his statements last Monday, which received a wide wave of criticism that prompted the broadcaster to apologize later.

"I think that the present time and the next few years are ideal to start looking for cheap flights to Turkey for your dental and plastic surgeries," the announcer said.

In the video, Ghalib called for pressure on the broadcaster and the "Capital FM" radio station in which he works to apologize for the "joke" about the catastrophic earthquake that killed tens of thousands in Turkey and Syria.

She said that she felt disgust, anger and frustration when she heard the broadcaster's words on the radio, stressing that she would write to the radio's customer service to file a complaint about what he said.

Anchor Payne apologized on his Twitter account the day before yesterday, Tuesday, saying, “Hey guys, I want to point out that the comment I made last night during the program was harsh and untimely. I never intended to offend anyone on one of my programs, I offer my apologies.” Pure heart."

The broadcaster's apology did not absolve the broadcaster from harsh criticism, but it became more severe, as the respondents denounced his denial of his statements and his attempt to disavow them at first, before he returned the next day to apologize, and demanded that the radio station dismiss him.

Music producer Funk Butcher said, "You have no idea how many people you have offended, not only because of this stupid joke, but with your double ignorance. to your country.”

Actress Afshan Azad called on the radio station to fire him, saying, "It's so appalling that you can joke about anything like this. It's cruel whether done publicly or privately. I don't think your apology can be taken seriously."

"I wonder, can you joke about cheap tickets to Ukraine too or would that be inappropriate?" said one.

It is noteworthy that on the sixth of February, a double earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, the first measuring 7.8 degrees and the other 7.6 degrees on the Richter scale, and hundreds of violent aftershocks, which left huge losses of lives and property in the two countries.

The death toll from the earthquake exceeded 41,000, with hopes waning to find survivors 11 days after the disaster.
