Turkish, Azerbaijani and Turkish Cypriot channels and radio stations launched the largest donation campaign in Turkey to help those affected by the earthquake.

Turkish media described the campaign as the largest in the history of the Republic, and called it "Turkey is one heart", and it received wide participation from Turkish institutions and individuals, at the official and popular levels.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said, during a telephone conversation with the campaign organizers, "Our people will show their generosity again by breaking a record in donating to those affected by the earthquake."

Erdogan indicated that all the funds that will be collected during the campaign will be spent for those affected by the earthquake.

In just two hours, the Turkish people provide about $5.7 billion in financial donations in favor of the "Turkey is One Heart" campaign for the earthquake, which is currently on Turkish television.

He pointed out that all state institutions and their staff and all the Turkish people will stand together to support those affected by the earthquake.

According to the Turkish news website TRTWorld, the campaign has raised, as of 19:30 GMT, more than $5.4 billion, amid wide participation from various Turkish circles.

He said that starting from the beginning of next March, the foundation stone will be laid for 30,000 housing units, "thus we will have begun the reconstruction of the demolished areas."

On February 6, a double earthquake struck southern Turkey and northern Syria, the first measuring 7.7 degrees and the second measuring 7.6 degrees, and hundreds of violent aftershocks, which caused huge losses of lives and property in both countries.
