Regarding the legislation of parliamentarians to promote understanding of LGBT people, the bipartisan parliamentary federation has confirmed its policy to aim for enactment by the G7 (7 major countries) summit in Hiroshima in May.

The Diet Members' Federation for Considering LGBT Issues held its first general meeting after the Prime Minister's secretary was dismissed for making discriminatory remarks about same-sex marriage. .

Former Defense Minister Iwaya of the Liberal Democratic Party, who was newly appointed chairman, said, "We are really being asked how the government and the Diet will deal with it." We confirmed the policy aiming for the enactment of lawmakers' legislation to do so.



Regarding this lawmakers' legislation, some within the Liberal Democratic Party have voiced opposition to the wording that "discrimination is not allowed" in the bill compiled by the Diet Federation.



After the meeting, Iwaya told reporters, "We must not let the spirit of 'unfair discrimination not be tolerated' disappear, and I would like to make efforts to advance future discussions based on that way of thinking." said.

Nishimura, acting representative of the Constitutional Democratic Party of Japan, said, "From the standpoint of the party, we have a strong desire to enact a bill to eliminate discrimination that we have submitted with other opposition parties, but we want to move the bill compiled by this federation of lawmakers." said.
