Katrin Kisswani from Ängelholm is a nurse and has worked for Doctors Without Borders since 2005, where she is part of the aid organization's emergency pool.

Over the years, she has been part of the rescue work at several natural disasters, including after the earthquake in Haiti in 2010 and Nepal in 2015. She has recently returned from Pakistan, which has been affected by severe floods for a long time.

She explains that the injuries that people receive in an earthquake are often very advanced and that many need to receive so-called trauma medical care after being rescued.

- We are talking about pretty decent crush injuries on the body, and about internal bleeding.

So you need to get help quickly in order to survive, she says.
