The government announced at the Diet on the 14th that Kazuo Ueda, a former deliberative committee member of the Bank of Japan and an economist, will succeed Kuroda as Governor of the Bank of Japan. I presented a proposal to appoint Mr. Shinichi Uchida.



In the Diet, Mr. Ueda and others will be heard and questioned from next week, but on the 15th, Prime Minister Kishida and relevant ministers will attend the House of Representatives Budget Committee, which is deliberating the budget for the new fiscal year. Deliberations are held, and questions are exchanged about the personnel proposal of the Bank of Japan.



Regarding personnel proposals, both the ruling and opposition parties have expressed a series of opinions that they want to confirm whether Mr. Ueda and others will maintain the current large-scale monetary easing or review it. , and the direction of future monetary policy, including the evaluation of Abenomics, is expected to be debated.



Discussions will also continue on issues such as countermeasures against the declining birthrate, drastic strengthening of defense capabilities, and development of laws concerning LGBT people.
