A member of the National Salvation Front in Tunisia, Reda Belhaj, said that President Kais Saied is floundering in his crisis and distracting citizens with side problems through arrests and raids, as he described it.

Belhaj added that Saeed is in isolation and at the end of his stage, as he put it.

For his part, Tunisian lawyer Samir Dilo said that the information available about the recent arrests of a number of politicians was drawn from the families of those arrested, and that the number of arrests is likely to increase.

Delo added that the suspensions may be due to the activities and meetings of opposition politicians.

In turn, the Ennahda Movement condemned the series of raids and arrests that Tunisia witnessed yesterday, Saturday, and confirmed in a statement that "the indiscriminate targeting of opponents of the coup reflects the confusion of the authority, and its unbridled desire to liquidate all opponents, including politicians, jurists, trade unionists, intellectuals, media professionals, bloggers, and businessmen."

She added that President Kais Saied thus replaces the judiciary and issues rulings outside the framework of the law, which reminds of the methods of fascist regimes to intimidate people by targeting and abusing opponents, as she put it.

And the authorities in Tunisia arrested businessman Kamal Latif (68 years) at dawn on Saturday after raiding his house in the capital. Ennahda Movement Abdul Hamid Jelassi.

In addition to the aforementioned, the security forces arrested a retired Tunisian army and a retired diplomatic corps.

While Jelassi is one of Saied's fiercest critics, Latif and Turki are not known to have any opinions opposing the Tunisian president.

Years ago, the name of Khayyam al-Turki was put forward as a candidate for prime minister, to succeed Elias Fakhfakh.

Kamal Latif is described as a "shadow man" who has wide influence within the state apparatus, especially in the Ministry of the Interior. He was also one of the organizers of the "medical coup" that overthrew Tunisian President Habib Bourguiba due to old age in 1987 and brought Zine El Abidine Ben Ali to power.

The Tunisian official authorities did not issue any clarifications regarding these arrests.
