It is early morning in Åre but on the slopes of Duved, eager skiers have already gathered.

- It was quite windy today, we barely got here with the car, but it finally worked out, says Mimmie Spetz who lives in Åre.

Costs increased by 74 percent

It is becoming more and more expensive to go on a skiing holiday in the mountains.

Länsförsäkringar has looked at what a week in Åre can cost for a family with children now during the sports holidays, and compared to ten years ago, the costs have increased by 74 percent.

- Rising energy prices, generally rising living costs such as food have led to this already expensive holiday becoming even more expensive, said Emma Persson who is a private economist at Länsförsäkringar when she was interviewed in SVT's Morgonstudion.

"Will be a luxury holiday"

In its calculation, Länsförsäkringar has, among other things, combined the cost of accommodation, lift tickets and food.

And for a family with two children, the total cost this year is SEK 36,286 for one week.

Ten years ago, in 2013, the same type of package cost SEK 20,800.

- This will be a luxury holiday which for the vast majority may not even be feasible, says Emma Persson.

It is still possible to reduce expenses

At the same time, it is possible to reduce expenses if you still want to go to the mountains.

According to Emma Persson, you can, for example, bring your own food on the slopes, you can look for cheaper accommodation a bit from the ski system and it is also possible to find used equipment that is cheaper.

In the clip: Hear what Mia Zachrisson and other skiers think about the increasingly expensive ski weeks in Åre, and how they are doing to reduce expenses.

This is how much the prices have increased, according to the calculation made by Länsförsäkringar.
