It's cold, but you still want to have a coffee on the terrace?

It is precisely in the face of this dilemma that a Lille start-up has created the Cuchöt, a heating pad for terraces.

One way to deal with the ban on heating on terraces, prohibited for ecological reasons.

Despite the cold, Laureline is sitting on the terrace, on a seemingly normal cushion, but under its cover, resistance fighters pass through it, warming her body.

"It's super pleasant, it warms the whole back and legs," she rejoices.

This heating pad is an invention of the Lille start-up Cuchöt.

His slogan ?

"Warm the moon, not the earth".

It works with rechargeable batteries produced in France which supply the heating wires.

For Valerie Saas-Lovecchio, owner of the Patio Opera, these cushions are a good way to replace the patio heaters now banned since March 31, 2022. "It's an innovative alternative and it makes customers want to go and sit down out again,” she explains.

"While respecting the planet."

A cushion that stops automatically

"This accessory has the advantage of being much less harmful to the environment than patio heaters", explains Florence Houriez, Cuchöt's sales manager.

"It warms the body, not the atmosphere. And in addition as soon as the person gets up, the cushion stops so it does not waste energy."

For the time being, around ten establishments in France have equipped themselves with these heating pads.
