According to information to SVT Nyheter, the freed man is a 20-year-old who was sentenced to ten years in prison for attempted murder after a shooting in Bunkeflostrand in early 2022.

Even though the sentence has gained legal force, the 20-year-old was still in custody in Norrköping at the time of his release.

"Not just calling"

Lawyer Daniel Roos confirms that the restrictions are usually eased for convicted criminals who remain in custody while waiting for placement in an institution.

But it is unclear whether the 20-year-old has been able to notify anyone about his hospital visit.

- I don't know what limitations or restrictions he has had.

It probably depends on the individual detention center's routines.

It's not like you can pick up a phone and call anyone.

Friends or enemies

Daniel Roos was the one who represented the 20-year-old most recently.

He believes that it is still unclear how the escape took place and why his client disappeared.

- Since there are two armed people who come and take him, you don't know if they are his friends or enemies.

How does the fact that he ran away affect your client in the future?

- It depends entirely on how the escape took place.

From what is known, it is other people who released him.

It is not forbidden to hold in oneself.

It does not affect the length of the sentence.

Could it have any other consequences?

- It is a question that is best asked of the Correctional Service, but I assume that it affects their security assessments in the future.

Have you had any contact with your client since he escaped?

- It is a question that I can never answer regarding any client.

That is a matter between me and the client.
