According to RIA Novosti, in the new declassified documents of the national archive of the United States there is a transcript of a telephone conversation between two former heads of state dated January 23, 1993.
Yeltsin congratulated Clinton on his inauguration a few days after the ceremony.
“I am convinced that together we will create the closest possible cooperation between the United States and Russia,” Clinton said during the conversation at the time.
He noted that in difficult times for the Eurasian continent, Moscow and Washington need to work together.
