The municipal housing companies Swedish housing, Stockholmshem and Familjebostäder are now done with their rent negotiations. The increase will be an average of 4.45 percent after the issue was decided in the Rental Market Committee. - It is perhaps the highest increase we have had in 30 years. On the other hand, it is significantly lower than the nine percent that the housing companies demanded from the very beginning, says Erik Elmgren, head of the Tenants' Association, to TV4 Nyheterna.
- It has major consequences.
It must be remembered that household finances are enormously strained and raising the rent by 4.45 percent will affect households greatly.
The rent increase applies from 1 January 2023.
"The rent increase is higher than a normal year, but still does not cover the cost increases for rates, building materials, interest and ongoing management," says Jonas Schneider, CEO of Familjebostäder in a press release.
