On February 6, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mao Ning presided over a regular press conference.

A reporter asked: We have noticed that the 77th session of the UN General Assembly Chairman Kresch ended his trip to China last weekend.

Can the spokesperson provide further information?

Mao Ning: From February 1st to 4th, Kresch, President of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly, was invited to visit China.

Premier Li Keqiang and State Councilor Wang Yi met with them respectively, and Foreign Minister Qin Gang held talks with Kresch.

The two sides had an in-depth exchange of views on the current international situation, the role of the United Nations and issues of common concern.

During the visit, Kresch also met with the heads of relevant ministries and commissions and the Henan Provincial Party Committee, and went to Zhengzhou, Henan to visit the South-to-North Water Diversion Middle Line Crossing the Yellow River Project.

Kresch is the first senior official from the UN system to visit China this year.

China has always supported multilateralism, supported the work of the United Nations, and supported the important role of the United Nations General Assembly.

This visit was a complete success. I would like to summarize the results of this visit with three key words:

  One is unity.

The two sides agreed that multilateralism should be upheld, the authority of the United Nations should be defended, the international order with the United Nations at its core, and the basic norms of international relations based on international law should be firmly maintained.

The general direction of democratization of international relations should be adhered to, and the representation and voice of developing countries in international affairs should be further enhanced.

  The second is development.

The two sides agreed that development should be placed at the center of the global agenda, this year's high-level meetings of the United Nations on sustainable development should be held successfully, and developing countries should be supported to improve their independent development capabilities, and no country or any country should be allowed to develop on the road of common development. One person left behind.

China is willing to strengthen the connection between global development initiatives and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and carry out more tangible and practical cooperation projects.

  The third is the challenge.

The two sides agreed that the world today is facing multiple challenges and crises, and countries should attach importance to the application of science and technology, and strengthen data to play a unique role in various fields such as water resource protection, climate change response, biodiversity protection, and the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

China supports the holding of the UN Water Conference in March and appreciates Chairman Kresch's efforts to this end.
