“Specialists of the Russian Emergencies Ministry, who arrived today in the Syrian Arab Republic to assist in the aftermath of the earthquake, immediately went to the area of ​​search and rescue operations,” the press service said.

It is specified that more than 50 rescuers, including three cynological crews, will search for and rescue victims under the rubble.

Earlier, the IFRC announced more than 1.5 thousand deaths in Syria as a result of the earthquake.

On February 7, an Il-76 aircraft of the Russian Emergencies Ministry with rescuers and dog handlers arrived in Syria to provide assistance after the earthquake.
