Yamaguchi, leader of Komeito, expressed his view that it would be desirable to enact lawmakers' legislation to promote understanding of LGBT people before the "G7 Hiroshima Summit" in May.

Two years ago, a bipartisan group of parliamentarians aimed to establish a parliamentary bill to promote understanding of LGBT people. After the Prime Minister's secretary was dismissed for making discriminatory remarks about same-sex marriage, the ruling and opposition parties are calling for an early enactment.

Komeito leader Yamaguchi said at a press conference, ``There is already a bill drafted by a bipartisan federation of lawmakers, and the LDP should reach an agreement within the party as soon as possible and submit the bill to the current Diet session in an effort to enact it. After the draft budget for the new fiscal year is enacted, procedures should be put in place promptly, and if possible, Japan should clarify its intentions before the G7 Hiroshima Summit."

On the other hand, regarding the development of laws that would allow same-sex marriage, he said, ``First of all, it is necessary to work to deepen the public's understanding. I believe that it should be achieved," he said.

Representative Tamaki of the people "To be established in the current Diet"

Tamaki, leader of the Democratic Party for the People, said at a press conference, "I think that the statement that led to the dismissal of the prime minister's secretary is that he lacks an accurate understanding of LGBT issues, so it is extremely important to promote understanding. I would like to have the understanding promotion law enacted in the Diet, and I would like to fully cooperate.
