If you run away, you must chase it to the end

Fujian recovers suspects who have been absconded for 33 years and are suspected of duty crimes

"I have escaped for 33 years. I regretted it a long time ago. Now I finally don't have to hide in Tibet anymore." Facing the staff of the Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision who came to question him a few days ago, Liu Longhui, the former accountant of the Guangze County Branch of the Agricultural Bank of China, felt relieved.

In 1986, Liu Longhui, who was just over 18 years old, worked as an accountant in the Savings Bank of the Agricultural Bank of Guangze County, Nanping City, Fujian Province. He had a decent job and a worry-free life.

This is the age of hard work, but the bad habit of indulging in gambling has dragged his life into the bottomless abyss.

In order to repay his gambling debts, Liu Longhui took risks. From September 1989 to March 1990, he took advantage of his position to embezzle depositors' deposits by forging deposit certificates, false reports of loss, and fake early withdrawals. The short payment problem was discovered and the matter was brought to light.

In order to evade legal sanctions, in 1990, Liu Longhui started a 33-year escape.

For more than 30 years, Liu Longhui has been changing places of work, afraid to take a car, apply for a bank card, mobile phone card, or contact his family. Only in the summer of 2002, he returned to Guangze County from Wenzhou, Zhejiang by bicycle. Ride away in a hurry.

"I dare not even go home after my father passed away. I live in fear every day, like a mouse. I really can't describe the feeling. Now that I have been caught, I feel much more relaxed." Speaking of the life of fleeing, Liu Longhui kept shaking his head.

After the reform of the national supervision system, the discipline inspection and supervision agency of Fujian Province took on the dual responsibilities of overall planning and coordination and handling cases of fugitive and stolen goods.

The Fujian Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision organized the investigation of fugitives, further collected and improved the basic information of fugitives, and did in-depth and solid basic work to promote breakthroughs in long-term fugitive cases.

According to the deployment, the Nanping Municipal Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervisory Committee instructed the Guangze County Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervisory Committee to comprehensively sort out the situation of newly-accepted fugitives after the reform, and re-formulate the work plan for chasing fugitives and recovering stolen goods for Liu Longhui's case. On the one hand, they continued to work through Liu Longhui's relatives; on the other hand, they did everything possible Liu Longhui escape clues.

Because Liu Longhui absconded earlier, the photos of his pursuit on the Internet are remakes taken from his junior high school graduation photos, which are relatively blurred and have no comparison value.

The investigators rummaged through the historical archives of the County Public Security Bureau one by one, and finally found the photo of the bottom book of Liu Longhui's ID card made in 1986, and updated it to the online escape system.

In January this year, the police in Yongjia County, Zhejiang Province found Liu Longhui's trace through updated photos.

The Guangze County Commission for Discipline Inspection immediately went to verify Liu Longhui's identity and brought him back to Guangze County.

After interrogation, Liu Longhui confessed to the corruption.

The family returned all the stolen money on their behalf.

A few days ago, the Guangze County Commission for Discipline Inspection and Supervision has transferred the case to the judiciary for review and prosecution.

The relevant person in charge of the Fujian Provincial Commission for Discipline Inspection said that Liu Longhui's arrest is the result of the discipline inspection and supervision organs of Fujian Province implementing the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the Communist Party of China and unremittingly pursuing fugitives and stolen goods.

After 33 years, Liu Longhui was finally arrested. He also warned the fugitives that no matter how long they escape, they will surely fall into the law. The only correct way out is to completely give up their illusions and return to justice as soon as possible.
