“The program allows individual grants to be made to Georgian citizens who are graduates of United States government exchange programs,” the text specifies.

The list of areas that future recipients of funding will have to focus on includes “development of independent media”, ensuring cybersecurity and education in this area, supporting economic growth, “promoting gender equality” and others.

“Note that basic education proposals should focus on improving education in grades 1-12 in public schools through teacher training and professional development or innovative student programs that include school libraries, science and language labs, and developmental programs ", the document says.

It follows from the description that the maximum amount of one grant should not exceed $20,000, while the total program budget will be $125,000.

Only graduates of US Government-funded exchange programs who are Georgian citizens or residents can apply for funds.

Earlier it was reported about the intentions of the US State Department to allocate up to $250,000 for "strengthening cultural ties" with Georgia.

Among the priority areas of work, among other things, were to include “strengthening democracy” and “civil society” in the country through art.

According to experts, such US initiatives involve interference in the internal affairs of those states where they are carried out.
