It is the first time that the Patriot anti-aircraft system has been used sharply by the Swedish defence.
The system can protect against attacks by ballistic missiles, cruise missiles and aircraft.
- The west coast with the port of Gothenburg is strategically important with all the transport that comes in there and therefore it is absolutely crucial to be able to protect against an attack with this system, says Therese Fagerstedt to Aftonbladet.
The Armed Forces' assessment is that the risk of an armed attack against Sweden is low, but that it cannot be ruled out either.
