  Master Xingyun was born in 1927. He became a monk in childhood. His common name is Li Guoshen, his dharma name is Jinjue, his dharma name is Wuche, his self-name is Xingyun, and his pen name is Zhao Wuren.

Born in Jiangdu County, Jiangsu Province (now Yangzhou City), he is the forty-eighth descendant of Linjizong.
