In two locations, with different character and conditions, SVT is now establishing new newsrooms.

In Småland's Eksjö and in the Rosengård district of Malmö, the 49th and 50th SVT editorial offices are opened.

- This feels great fun!

The area around Eksjö is an exciting part of the county, with many sides that we may not always have managed to cover sufficiently.

It's about many smaller towns that together still have a population of well over 100,000 inhabitants, says Daniel Rundqvist, editor-in-chief at SVT Nyheter Jönköping.

Guard the highlands

In 2015, there were SVT in 27 locations and now, in 2023, the number will be 50. That is almost a doubling in ten years.

The strengthening has been possible through savings and rationalization in administration, technology and production.

The editors in Eksjö will primarily cover the six municipalities in the Småland highlands, which in addition to Eksjö are Nässjö, Vetlanda, Tranås, Aneby and Sävsjö.

The editors belong to SVT Nyheter Jönköping.

- In the highlands, where Eksjö is one of the central towns, there is agriculture, forestry and old mills, but also exciting new ventures for the future.

We believe that better monitoring of this area will help broaden the picture of what Sweden is today, says Daniel Rundqvist.
