On Tuesdays and Fridays, the Youth Arena opens its operations for children in grades 6–9.

Instead of the children having nothing to do after school, they can come to the arena and have coffee, play games, do crafts and hang out with adults from the leisure center, the youth center and the Gottsunda church.

Field secretary Rebecca Börjesson does not hesitate for a second when asked what is most important in the work to prevent children and young people from falling into the wrong way.

- For me, it's about creating relationships, getting to know them.

I field, both during the day and evening.

You go and greet them, talk to them, meet them at school, at the youth arena and at the leisure park.

15 million from the state

She and her colleague Hujayeb Kamaly are two of five social workers who were able to be hired thanks to the state grant of 15 million that the municipality received last year.

The state pushes extra money to all places that are on the police's list of particularly vulnerable areas.

The municipality has also worked long-term since 2018 and set aside 16.7 million annually in the budget.

During the first three years, it was about taking a series of measures.

Now they continue to work towards different goals and have an action plan that extends to 2030.

In the video, you get to meet two of the young people who like to hang out at the youth arena and hear how the social workers think their work is paying off.
