In Senegal, civil society still mobilized on the management of Covid funds

This Monday morning, a collective of around forty organizations filed a complaint with the Dakar court to ask the courts to take up the case.
This follows the publication of a report by the Court of Auditors at the end of December which pinpointed the management of Covid response funds in 2020-2021.

"Sunu'y billions of the ress", "our billions will not disappear", is the name of the collective of citizens and civil society organizations at the origin of this citizen complaint.
In the document, they denounce, among other things, the embezzlement of public funds, the endangerment of people, and “
economic genocide
”.
The complaint requests the opening of a judicial investigation concerning the 12 people cited in the report of the Court of Auditors.
For Aliou Sané, coordinator of the Y'en a fed up movement and member of the collective, justice has already waited too long.

It's been a month to the day, after the great demonstration of the collective, the government of Senegal has invited civil society.
During this meeting, the government made commitments that go in the direction of doing what is necessary so that, very quickly, the Senegalese justice can provide a response to the recommendations of the Court of Auditors.
So the government had made commitments, but a month later, we realize that it's at a standstill, it's not moving.

The complaint will be filed with the public prosecutor and the collective invites citizens to file the same complaint individually.
As a reminder, the report of the Court of Auditors published last December
pointed the finger at the mismanagement
of part of the funds allocated to the Covid response in the country.
Out of a total of 1,000 billion CFA francs, 6 billion are concerned.
In his wishes for the new year, President Macky Sall took note of the report and promised that justice would take its course.
