Police violence, tinged with racism, has become commonplace in the United States.

In just three weeks, two black men have been killed by police in controversial circumstances: Tire Nichols and Anthony Lowe.

The first was beaten to death during a traffic stop on January 7.

The second, amputated with both legs and mentally ill, was shot on January 26 following a knife attack.

As if that were not enough, the country has been bereaved by six "mass shootings" since the beginning of the year.

Murders by firearm, particularly isolated, unpredictable, and affecting vulnerable populations such as schoolchildren, have been on the rise for twenty years.

Faced with this increase, which has accelerated with the Covid-19, 71% of Americans are calling for stricter regulation of the sale of weapons, according to a study by the University of Chicago.

Nevertheless, 51% of them are not ready to give up the second amendment of the Constitution of the United States, which guarantees them the right to possess a weapon.
