In the Tidö Agreement, the government and the Sweden Democrats have agreed to drop support for offshore expansion.

The support means that the wind power companies would receive help from Svenska kraftnät to pay for the connection to the main grid.

- This line is fixed.

There is no other power type that gets its connection fee subsidized by the state, says Ebba Busch (KD).

Swedish power grid: "Unpredictable"

What she promises, however, is that the permit processes will be shortened.

Today, according to Svenska kraftnät, it is very complicated to get permission.

- It is very unpredictable whether you get permission or not.

It must become clearer, otherwise there is no prerequisite for realizing offshore wind power in Sweden, says Daniel Gustafsson, head of power systems at Svenska kraftnät.

He says that there will be a deficit in electricity production if the offshore wind power is not expanded within five to ten years.

Eight applications

The government has eight applications on its table.

One of them, Krieger's flak south of Trelleborg, has been given the go-ahead.

The rest are awaiting notification, among them the Danish Ørsted.

- If we get the go-ahead from the government, we can be ready with our first wind farm in 2029. It's the Skåne offshore wind farm, says Ulrik Stridbæk, head of energy economics at Ørsted.

In total, they want to build six wind farms in Sweden from Gävle in the north to Skåne in the south.

If they get the OK, they should be ready for operation in 2032.
